PLEASE NOTE: All programs are subject to cancellation and/or rescheduling due to staff limitations, weather conditions, or other factors. Some programs require reservations, a minimum age, or a cost-recovery fee. Call 386.428.3384, extension 0 for program information during operating (9-5). Visit our website at www.nps.gov/cana. Entrance fees apply to all interpretive program participants. All programs meet the requirements for the Canaveral National Seashore Junior Ranger program.
Wednesday, 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th - 10am, "CANOE MOSQUITO LAGOON". Reservations will begin a week before the canoe date. Join a guide as you explore this rich and diverse estuary up close. Some experience is preferred. You must be at least 8 years old and able to paddle. You must wear covered shoes (no sandals, flip-flops or crocs). Bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Dress to get wet. Individuals with their own kayaks or canoes are welcome to join in. Call 386.428.3384, extension 0 to reserve your spot. Meet at the Visitor Center at 9:45am (2hours).
Friday & Sunday each week - 10am, "ELDORA: RECOGNITION & MEMORY". Join a ranger on a forty-five minute journey into the past. Put yourself into the exciting years of Eldora's rise and decline. Be sure to bring water and bug spray. Meet at parking lot #8.
Saturday each week - 1pm, "DIGITAL PHOTOGRAHPY". Explore the seashore with a digital camera. We will compose the picture and learn about the natural history of the dunes/beach environment. Bring sunscreen and waters. If you have a digital camera you can bring it or you can use one of ours. Meet at parking lot #1 (1 hour).
Sunday 22nd and 29th - 10am, "ENDANGERED ANIMAL SPECIES". Discover how many endangered animals use the national seashore. Some are year round residents, others are here only during the summer and some pass through during their migrations. We will discuss all 14 animal species. Meet at parking lot #3 (1 hour).
Monday, 23rd and 30th - 10am, "THE SEA TURTLES ARE HERE". Find out the current number of sea turtle nests on your national seashore. Learn about the 4 different species that use our shores to lay their eggs. Meet at parking lot #3 (1 Hour).
