Edgewater is a city located in Volusia County, Florida. It's not far off from New Smyrna Beach. A lot of people know this area for being close to the famed Mosquito Lagoon. Here are some popular attractions and places of interest in and around Edgewater.

Indian River

The city of Edgewater is found along the Indian River, which is a waterway with a lagoon-like appearance. Stretching over 100 miles along the Southern side of Edgewater, you can view quite the beautiful scenery.

Turtle Mound

Not far from Edgewater is Turtle Mound, which is a prehistoric archaeological site. It's part of the U.S National Register of Historic Places. You can reach this interesting place via hiking trails. Usual opening hours is from 6 AM to 7 PM in the summer, and 6 AM to 5 PM in the winter.

Peter Wolf Toth Art Gallery and Museum

Those who want to browse through unique art should check out the Peter Wolf Toth Art Gallery and Museum. You will find that the owner of this museum is very personable and knowledgeable. The exhibit features a variety of sculptures (called the Trail of the Whispering Giants) to honor the Native Americans.

Mosquito Lagoon

This list wouldn't be complete without mentioning the Mosquito Lagoon, which is right by Edgewater. Lots of people like to visit the lagoon to go fishing. You will come across many varieties of inshore fishes including trout, redfish, black drum, and flounder. It's also an excellent place to sight manatees.
